Physis is an ancient Greek word meaning “nature,” “essence,” or “one’s true being.”
It does not refer simply to nature as scenery, but to the fundamental source of life — a force that moves, grows, and gives rise to all living things.
In contrast to nomos — the laws and systems constructed by human society — physis represents the inherent, self-unfolding nature of existence.
